KIDS NEXT DOOR REUNION DINNER IN NYC!

So whilst in NYC,
we put together a little
KND crew reunion!

And where better to have it than
where we had the premiere party way back in 2002.

Starting from front left and rockin' clockwise:

Kevin Kobasic (character design)
T. Mackie Evans (character design)
Abigail Nesbitt (storyboard)
John Allemand (BG design)
Maurice Fontenot (storyboard)
Vanessa van der Baan (BG color)
Mike Cavallaro (BG color)
Grace Lu (color supervisor)
Erin Finnegan (production coordinator)
Bruce Knapp (line producer)
John "Quack" Leard (storyboard)
Robert Kopecky (prop design)

And somehow,
Alison Wilgus (colorist, writer, social media guru)
disappeared when the picture was taken.

Also totally missed were
Gideon Kendall (BG design)
Chrysoula Artemis (colorist)
Andy Rheingold (writer)
Rob Smith (inker)
Marcus Pauls (production manager)
Susan Holden (executive producer)
David Starr (executive producer)
and other assorted folks
who couldn't make it or somehow
got lost in the shuffle.

It was pretty pretty emotional getting to
hang out with what is inarguably the sooper best crew
a show could have had.

Love you guys and miss you madly.

TABLING IT AT MO'S HOUSE

Last weekend I made a pilgrimage to
Knuffle Manor,
home of Mo Willems,
to help on a sooper secret project.

But it's no secret that when you go to
Knuffle Manor,
you're encouraged to
draw on the dinner table.

And I did just that with an
incredible group of creative people:

who has been writing and drawing
RHYMES WITH ORANGE
for a thousand years
did this:

Her partner Kerry,
who claims to be a science teacher
and not an artist
drew this wonderful friend:

Here's A bird by Mo
(which I totally stole the next morning)

Datsun-powered painter
rocked this evil beauty:

And because he's awesome he always brings
me an artist proof of the latest
Magic the Gathering card
he's done:

Okay...
So I drew this dumb dinosaur thing:

And then dumb ol'
has to go and make the sooper most beautiful drawing
of a dragon drawing my dumb dragon
while Mo's dog watches:

I TOTALLY took Tony's drawing home with me because
OMG!!!

Master of marquetry
and
mega movie producer
(no relation to Adam from the Bible)
collaborated on drawing an entire cast of characters and
writing a story about them,
most of it too hot for blogging:

And if I didn't mention there were enchiladas,
there were definitely enchiladas:

It's always creative people heaven
at Mo and Cheryl's parties.
I could have spent two days talking to each person there.

But the rent at Mo's place ain't cheap.
So here I am back in LA.

But I can't wait to go back!

NOT TO BE A STICKLER...

I don't wanna seem like a
know-it-all...

But a mistake like this:

... probably shouldn't be in
a book called this:

Good eye on my nephew Max,
who showed me this at Christmas.

SUPER RARE 7D MINI-SODE

While there weren't any new
7D episodes last weekend,
there
WAS
this little treat cooked up
by some industrious production elves:

Brilliant.

I vote we do all the episodes this way
and spend the money we save on chocolate covered pretzels.

ONE MORE SKETCHBOOK COOKED

Well, after being on the fire for a long time
this sketchbook is
FINALLY
cooked:

It started slow-roasting on
May 6, 2015
with a
Burger Turtle:

And if you think I've written some fun stories,
my chicken nugget Kelley Jones
has created a world
where he fights bad guys
led by the evil mustachioed
Jonny Stevens.
I made him write some of it down
because
AWESOME:

I love finding other people's drawings
at music and mix sessions.
These are obviously by

I also snatch up whatever post-it doodles
I might find in the
7D bullpen:

Remember,
a sketchbook is not only a journal of your art,
it's a record of your life at a point in time.
Fill it with life events,
like stoopid triathlons
that make you really tired afterwards:

And if you know my sketchbooks,
then you know I
never
ever
ever
(forever evuh?)
draw on the last page:

And then it went up on the shelf
with all the other baked goods:

On to the next sketchbook!

Let's see if I can finish this one in less than
ten months!

LEGO MY KIDS NEXT DOOR

I think it's a well known fact that
EVERYONE
loves Legos.

And I think it's a well known fact that I
LOVE
seeing the Kids Next Door built with Legos.

Especially these by MrMinifig:

Here's a How-To video he made:

And 77legocreator
TOTALLY
rocked these
Galactic: KND
minifigs:

GAH!

SO MUCH LEGO TO LOVE!
