STORYBOARDING THE SIMPSONS WAY

While excavating through
all the crap in the laboratory
I found this packet of wisdom
from none other than

STORYBOARDING
THE SIMPSONS WAY

If you like storyboarding
(and I know you do)
then you'll go monkey bananas for this.

Look and learn:

YES!

But just to be on the record,
I'm totally cool with cutting heads off
on over the shoulder shots.

CARTOONS vs CANCER

So many of you take a look at me,
squint your eyes hard
and say,

"I've got questions."

And they're good questions.
Like,

"What's wrong with you?"
and
"When are you going to get a haircut?"
or
"What's your favorite episode of Codename: Kids Next Door?"

But then I drop a ninja smoke bomb and disappear
before you can get an answer.

So wouldn't it be great
to trap me for a while
and make me answer your
questions?

Well, on December 6th,
 it's happening:

The Book of Life creator
Jorge Gutierrez
answered your questions.

So did
Courage The Cowardly Dog creator
John R. Dilworth

And now I'm doing it!

DO YOU LIKE “CODENAME: KIDS NEXT DOOR”?
OF COURSE YA DO! ON THE NEXT EPISODE OF “CARTONS VS CANCER”,
THE SHOW’S CREATOR, MR. WARBURTON(@warburtonlabs
WILL BE JOINING ME ON A LIFESTREAM
AND ANSWERING YOUR QUESTIONS LIVE!
JOIN US AND ASK HIM ANYTHING! NO MATTER HOW CRAZY!
OF COURSE, IT’S ALL TO HELP RAISE MONEY FOR CHILDREN WITH CANCER!
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 6TH AT 1:00pm (EASTERN STANDARD TIME) HERE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAnX6S6fQo0
BE THERE OR BE A DORK!
(Disclaimer: If you’re not there, Gruppetstudios
will not file legal dork claims on your name.) DON’T MISS IT!

Please note that I can not guarantee I'll give
sane, intelligent or informative answers.
But you never know.

Will I see you there?

SILVER DRAWING ACADEMY NI MODORIMASHITA!

OMG
at

Well, it happened
AGAIN!

Mr. Silver handled the majority of the crowd,
who were artists:

But the writers,
and fans of poorly spoken Japanese,
hung out with me:

Fortunately,
my translator Akiko
was able to reconstruct my sloppy,
poorly spoken Japanese (and English)
into sentences the kids could understand.

So this year I brought a project for the
students to rock:

That says,
"LET'S WRITE CODENAME: KIDS NEXT DOOR!"

"First, think of a kid problem"

Each of the students were asked to come up
with 5 kid issues.
So they got to thinking:

They came up with ideas like:

I DON'T WANT TO GET OUT OF BED
or
I DON'T WANT TO GO TO SCHOOL
or
PARENTS WANT TO HAVE FUN
INSTEAD OF TAKING CARE OF THEIR KIDS

"Next, make that problem into a person"

How do you PERSONIFY the kid problem?

If you're trying to stay in bed,
what if a
GIANT ROBOT MADE OF ALARM CLOCKS
busts into your room?!

"Now, think of an evil"

What is the alarm clock robot doing?
Trying to wake up kids to make them do more school work?

"Next, think of a SOOPER evil"

How do you make things get WORSE
for your hero?
Maybe the alarm clocks are SO LOUD
that they're causing earthquakes that are destroying the earth itself!
And what can the Kids Next Door do to stop it!

The students came up with some
KILLER
stories.

My
daisuke
(favorite)
was by this girl:

Her KND operative didn't want to go to school.
So she and her teammates skipped class and went to a park.
Then, from out of nowhere, a giant monster attacked and swallowed
them all in one bite.
The next thing the operatives know,
they're trapped in a classroom in the monster's stomach.
And class will never end!

Where was this girl when we we
needed KND stories?!

Thanks to Mr. Silver for having me
come and hang out with these fun kids!
Can't wait to do it again!

PROFILES IN SKETCHBOOKS

So a couple weeks ago
Disney TV Animation
treated us all to a new sketchbook.

Actually, it's more of
a notebook or journal
since it's filled with lined paper.

So what to do with it?

I dunno.

Maybe draw a character in profile
EVERY DAY?

Here are a couple from my first couple weeks:

The only rules are that it has to be quick:

And it has to be a profile:

It's fun coming up with daily exercises
to keep yourself drawing.

Don't worry if you don't like it.
Just move on to the next page.

It's not like you're getting graded.
Just shut up and draw something.
ANYTHING.
