GIVE IT!

TANGENTS!

I like

There's a
TON
of
inspiring
art stuff
to
ENDLESSLY
scroll
through.

I especially like
the educational stuff.
For instance,

Chris Schweizer's
Guide to Spotting Tangents

The long line is when a line from one object runs directly
into the line of another.  This is the tangent that everybody knows.
The one that’s easiest to spot, easiest to avoid.
For a lot of folks, this is the only thing meant
when one refers to a “tangent.”

I'm not familiar with
but I like him already.

Anyone that can track down and kill a
yucky tangent is alright in my book.

He's mainly talking about
tangents in comics,
but these rules apply to
animation
storyboards
and layout, too.

A good part of my day is spent watching animation
that comes back from overseas studios
and finding ways to fix problems like these:

This is just a teeny taste
of what
Mr. Schweizer
is out to learn ya.

To see the whole post
and really go on a
TANGENT SAFARI
head on over

BRAVEST WARRIORS!

So you've seen
right?

It's a
web series by
ADVENTURE TIME
creator
Pendleton Ward

No...
I'm not working on the show.

But I
AM
doing an illustration
for this book:

BRAVEST WARRIORS: THE SEARCH FOR CATBUG

An amazing collection of artists venture to multiple dimensions to help you in...
THE SEARCH FOR CATBUG!
Catbug ate some weird new cubes of food that caused him to lose
what little control he already had over his jump abilities!
Now he’s careening through dimensions, unable to stop!
Help the Bravest Warriors travel the galaxy and find Catbug.
Just don’t eat any of those cube snacks or you might end up lost too!

Save your excitement, though!

It's not coming out until
Summer of 2014
from
Viz Media's
imprint.

But I'm here to
tell you it's gonna be
block rockin'.

More info coming soon
but
you can read the latest over

TITMOUSE SMASH PARTY 2013, YO!

Hi!
I'm a computer printer!

But I'm not just
ANY PRINTER!

I'm
Maxwell Atoms'
printer!

 And he
LOVES
ME!

How do I know?
Because on Saturday
he took me to a
PARTY!
Looks fun, right?

Wait...

What?

He's going to...
...
...

no

NO WAY!

Max
(that's what I call him)
would
NEVER
smash me.

Never in a million years.

He brought me to
Titmouse Smash Party
to hang out
with a ton of really fun people:

We had some root beers and talked with
tons of awesome animation-type people
and got some cheesy tater tots
at the food trucks:

And yeah...
we watched some poor, unfortunate
stuff get smashed:

We even got a free t-shirt:

What FUN we had!

And
NO.

He did
NOT
smash me.

Wait...
What?
Where is he, you ask?
Um...
I don't know.
Max told me to wait here.

He said he was coming right back.

That was on Saturday.

Do you think he's okay?

Maybe I should call the police.

...

...

I'm so cold.

I KNOW THAT VOICE WORLD PREMIERE!

Remember when I showed
you the trailer for
the work-in-progress documentary
about animation
voice actors
called

If you don't remember
(and are too lazy to click the link)
you oughta know that
the film is the baby of
sooper awesome voice actor
aka
Bender
Jake the Dog
Joctopus
Shnitzel
Four Arms
Dr. Drakken
etc etc etc

And after a couple years,
a million hours of interviews,
lots of writing, editing
and much love...
it's
DONE!

Last week was the
sooper exclusive
WORLD PREMIERE
at the
Egyptian Theatre
in Hollywood, USA
so
and I
disguised ourselves as
voice actors and snuck in!

It was quite the gala
red carpet
event:

And
EVERY
sooper famous
voice actor
was there...

but we hung out with
instead:

Mr. DiMaggio
and his co-producers got up to say a couple words
before the film started:

And then it was time for the screening,
which, of course, rocked.

Seriously.

EVERYONE
is in the movie.

Tom Kenny
Hank Azaria
Rob Paulsen
Kevin Michael Richardson
Billy West
Jim Cummings
Dee Bradley Baker
Grey DeLisle
Bill Farmer
Bob Bergen
Mark Hamill
Cree Summer
Lauren Tom
and
THERE'S NOT ENOUGH ROOM
ON THE INTERNET TO LIST THEM ALL!

Some highlights:

Dee Bradley Baker making monster sounds
with the use of a jar for extra resonance

Bob Bergen slowly breaking down,
syllable by syllable
how Porky Pig says a word
and then impossibly stringing a bunch together.

Jim Cummings and Kevin Michael Richardson
challenging each other with dueling Mike Tyson
impersonations

Jess Harnell's story about a skeptical kid
who refused to believe he played Wacko

and to be honest,
THERE'S NOT ENOUGH ROOM
ON THE INTERNET TO LIST THEM ALL!

What made it really fun were all the
woops
woots
and
cheers
that occurred when an actor came on screen.
The VO community is a very
generous group and
EVERYONE
got excited to
see their peers on the big screen.

Afterwards, there was a brief
discussion with the producers and a couple of the actors
which was sooper fun:

from right to left:
Tom Kenny
Maurice LaMarche
Rob Paulsen
John DiMaggio
Andrea Romano
director Lawrence Shapiro
and
producer Tommy Reid

Keep an eye on your theaters for
I KNOW THAT VOICE!
It's
DELICIOUS!

Just like
voice director
Kris Zimmerman's
brain:

HOW MANY MORE SKETCHBOOKS MUST DIE?

I killed another sketchbook.

In cold, hard graphite.

I'd ask you to stop me
before I kill again.
But we know that's
unpossible.

This one went fast.
From
August 17th
to
October 30th, 2013.

It started out with this
decal mash-up:

The title page got a bit smushy.
I prolly should start spraying fixative
on the pages I paint on.
Or this happens:

This happened after I saw

And then this happened after a snack:

The Kings lost to the Flames
in the last two minutes
of this game.
Boooooo!

I guess this is
younger brother:

When I cut something into a sketchbook
(like the above business card)
I like to find something to do with the piece
that's on the opposite side of the page.
Like this:

This guys started showing up occasionally.
I have no idea who he is:

When I was sick I drew germs:

There's that guy again:

And then it was time to
squeeze the last bit
of life out
of this
sketchbook.

And while this one is still warm
I'm onto the next victim.

Help me.
