The G:KND EXPERIMENT (part 3)

So the script got done for the

Galactic: Kids Next Door trailer.

And then Guy Moore did the storyboard.

Now we needed voices!

So I sent an e-mail to:

Ben Diskin

(aka Numbuh One)

Jason Harris

(aka Numbuh 274)

Dave Wittenberg

(aka Numbuh 74.239)

Jennifer Hale

(aka Numbuh 86 and the KND computer)

And Cree Summer

(aka Numbuh Five)

I told them about our 

Galactic: Kids Next Door experiment! 

I cajoled.

I cried.

I pouted.

I begged them to lend me an hour or two to record

their voices for the horribly insulting price of

NOTHING!

Turns out I didn't need to do any of that.

ALL 

of them were

ALL IN!

Same with

engineer/guitarist/dungeon master

David Guerrero

who donated studio time to record the actors.

(David rocks)

And the record went great!

It felt amazing to be back with the KND!

(Albeit not with all of them)

GAH!

I wish I had taken pictures!

Anyway,

after we finished,

Aerial Editor Dave Courter,

who cut every inch of the original

Kids Next Door series

dove in and started putting together the animatic.

And it was awesome.

After we got it just right,

I went to the original KND sound team,

sooper cinematic musician Steve Rucker

and

sound FX master Lou Esposito

and begged

THEM

to add their flavor.

And then the animatic got even

MORE

AWESOMER!!!

Finally,

we had our teaser.

Which by now,

EVERYONE IN THE UNIVERSE 

HAS SEEN.

THE G:KND EXPERIMENT (part 2)

So you read the last post about how our grand

Galactic: Kids Next Door

experiment began, right?

I mean,
the whole thing was a long shot.
We were about to do a lot of work on something
that probably wouldn't work.
Because if Cartoon Network doesn't want to make
Galactic: Kids Next Door...
We can't make it.
End of story.

SO WHY BOTHER?!

Because I love KND.
and
I'm pretty sure you love KND, too.

And we wanted to make something
NEW and FUN
to show you.

And if Cartoon Network
liked it...
ALL THE BETTER.

So essentially,
we were creating
fan fiction of our own work.

And after we had a cool script,
Numbuh D-20
(aka Guy Moore)
laid out an all-out storyboard assault.

He worked digitally in Flash,
leaving a trail of awesomeness in his wake.

He works rough,

but still very tight.

He asks a lot of good questions:

And he worries about every detail.

Like how handcuffs should work.

He plods ahead even if a character design isn't ready:

We sent notes back and forth for a while...

But honestly, there's never much to fix with Guy's work.

It's mostly nit-picky detail stuff.

And he NEVER half-steps.

I mean, he practically animated the darn thing.

Once the board was done and Guy 

started cleaning it up,

And that's how many have signed a petition 

asking Cartoon Network to make

GALACTIC: KIDS NEXT DOOR

into a real series:

So how'd this thing even start,

anyway?!

Well...

Back in September of 2014

I sent an e-mail to

decommissioned

Codename: Kids Next Door

director and storyboard artist

Guy Moore

(aka Numbuh D-20)

His answer was a resounding

HELLS YEAH

even though he had no idea what 

kind of mess I was about to get him into.

He's fun like that.

This was the start,

of course,

of our grand

GALACTIC: KIDS NEXT DOOR

experiment.

The idea had started much earlier.

We had talked about the idea towards the end of the original show.

And I've gently pitched it to an 

executive at Cartoon Network 

a couple times over the years.

But no one bit at the idea.

So I waited.

And over the years I doodled some stuff here and there.

But eventually I thought...

Why not make a kind of guerilla-style pitch?

Just 

MAKE SOMETHING

and not even say we did it.

See what kind of reaction we get.

And who knows?

Maybe Cartoon Network would get excited.

So I wrote a script.

I sat on it for a long time since

 I was busy with a lot of other stuff.

And then,

after finishing the pitch for a 

new show idea I was working on,

I sent the above e-mail to

Mr. Moore.

Which was kind of like lighting the fuse on a 

SOOPER

GIANT

CREATIVE

HYPER

COOL

ROMAN CANDLE

FULL OF IDEAS!

But instead of running from the explosion,

I stood smack in the middle 

and basked in the delicious heat, light and fire.
