A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...
I was starting a new sketchbook.
I was about to put a sticker on the front when my son suggested I make the sketchbook look like The Death Star instead.

Who am I to argue with a 6 year old?

I know... the resemblance is uncanny.

Unfortunately, most of this sketchbook was taken up by a sooper triple OMG-Darth Vader-Is-Luke's-Father secret book project I've been doing for Hyperion.
And it's huuuuuuuuge.
Like 270 pages huge.
So most of my sketching was working out the pages for that.
And I can't show you any of it.

But there's still some of the usual stuff lurking within.
Like evil potted plants:

Random avatars:

My wolf cub added the two on the bottom here-- awesome:

A Private (Moby) Dick:

And here are a couple page headers. I try to always do a doodle for the date of the page I'm doing:

And here's a page of doodles I did whilst listening to legendary storyboard overlord Sherm Cohen's weekly class here at Fish Hooks.

Almost forgot.

Here's a picture FISH HOOKS creator Noah Z. Jones did of a horse pooping on my head.

So like every other Death Star before it...
This one is finished.

Started December 13, 2010
Finished April 20th, 2011

But what's this?
After buying a couple new sketchbooks
my son absconded with one and built...

Admiral Ackbar must be pooping calamari.

OMG i LOOOOOOOVE it! I'm going into crazy fangirl mode when you put pictures from your sketchbooks. Then I figure out mine would look lame compared to yours...

So Tom,

Will this project for Hyperion get made into a cartoon?

Looks like the project for Hyperion is acutally a graphic novel, according to this picture:

Hey Mr. W! Only you could have the time travelin' type awesomeness required to start the sketchbook BEFORE you finished the sketchbook... think I'm crazy? Check the start and end dates you listedd for the book... **grins and giggles**

No matter what you post here you always make me laugh! Thank you ☺

See it can happen to any of us... my other comment should read that you FINISHED before you STARTED, but since that is not the usual way. My fingers acted of their own free will and typed it the other way 'round. Oh, well... I'm sure you are grinning now, which makes me happy too! ☺

doop! good catch on the dates!
