CREATIVA FEST 2016

OMG,

Mexico!

When I got invited to 

Creativa Fest I had no idea what

I was getting myself into.

At the very least I knew that sooper pal

Maxwell Atoms

was going to be there.

So if I was attacked by a chupacabra

 I could throw him in the monster's path in order to escape.

But instead, I was met by:

eleventy billion mega excited fans

an incredibly appreciative and helpful festival staff



awesomely fun and dedicated volunteers:

mountains of delicious food and drink

a city full of rich history





and a deep squad of

incredibly talented,

amazingly fun and funny

fellow speakers.

I couldn't have had a better time.

Now, I always knew that 

Codename: Kids Next Door

had been popular in

Mexico.

BUT I HAD NO IDEA HOW MUCH!

From what I was told the translators
were able to keep to the spirit of the show
while injecting a healthy dose of
Mexican culture and slang that really spoke to
the audience here.

And over the years I've done a lot of 

animation events, lectures and school visits,

but I have to say that the Mexican fans were,

as a whole,

the sweetest, kindest, most polite
and appreciative fans I've ever met.







I must have signed a billion
sketchbooks, papers, shirts and festival badges



at the event...
in the halls...
at the hotel...
on the street...
in restaurants...
in elevators...
and I'm pretty sure I took a picture
with every single person in Mexico.

It was seriously crazy.
And I loved every minute of it.

THIS MEMORIAL DAY

A COUPLE OF TVA GALLERY SHOWS

I stink.

 For MANY reasons.

A couple I can name offhand are the two

TVA Art Gallery shows I missed

Not only did I not enter a piece into either show,

I wasn't able to go to the gallery openings,

which are always really fun.

This first one I missed was this:

EVERYONE

decorated a set of ears.

Except me.

(Wah!)

I was in a rush so I couldn't get a lot of pictures,

but I did get these:

FAMILY SERVICE AGENCY OF BURBANK AUCTION 2016

Last year I had the distinct honor of 

being one of three featured artists at the 

Family Service Agency of Burbank 

art auction!

And

THIS YEAR...

I won't be there.

I'll be in Mexico City for 

Creativa Fest 2016!

But that doesn't mean I can't drop some

sooper fun artwork

CREATIVA FEST 2016

Okay,

here's the plan.

We're 

ALL

going to Mexico City from

June 2nd to the 5th

for the

2016

CREATIVAFEST

International Animation Festival.

We'll have lots of fun together

but I'll have to take a break to do some work.

The fine folks of Creativa have asked me to speak to

eleventy thousand animation students

about what it's like to run a show!

And guess what?

Maxwell Atoms* 

will be there, too!

*creator of The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy

and my evil twin who looks nothing like me
